For instance, back in the 60’s, a TV sitcom like the Dick Van Dyke Show you were lucky if you saw so much as a peck on the cheek when it came to showing affection between husband Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) and his wife Laura Petrie (Mary Tyler Moore). And if you are old enough to remember, the Petrie’s slept in separate twin beds, although, at some point they must have moved them together because they had a son called Ritchie. Now, compare the very funny, but very proper 60’s sitcom Dick Van Dyke Show with the 90’s sitcom Friends, which was very funny, but very open sexually.
