Where To Download Free 90's Sitcoms

90's Television Sitcoms

I have been a big fan of TV sitcoms for quite some time and as I look back upon the past decade or so, I can see that many of the 90’s Sitcoms are still very popular among today's television viewing audience. Popular TV sitcoms like Frasier, Friends, Home Improvement, The Simpsons and The Fresh Prince of Bel-air that were playing on a great deal of television sets in the 90`s are still being watched daily as reruns by a surprising amount of viewers all over the world. Although the amount of faithful viewers of 90’s sitcoms is not what it was when they were first released, all of the sitcoms I have mentioned still have a faithful following of fans watching their reruns on a daily basis.

If you were to stop and think about what the early days of television sitcoms were like when compared to the 90’s sitcoms, it is easy to see the differences between the two eras when it came to what was allowed to be shown on television. For instance, back in the 60’s, a TV sitcom like the Dick Van Dyke Show you were lucky if you saw so much as a peck on the cheek when it came to showing affection between husband Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) and his wife Laura Petrie (Mary Tyler Moore). And if you are old enough to remember, the Petrie’s slept in separate twin beds, although, at some point they must have moved them together because they had a son called Ritchie. Now, compare the very funny, but very proper 60’s sitcom Dick Van Dyke Show with the 90’s sitcom Friends, which was very funny, but very open sexually. I don’t believe there was any subject on Friends that was considered taboo.

Where To Download Free 70's Sitcoms

If you remember back in time about 3 decades or more, I bet you can recall a great many 70's sitcoms that were very successful. As a matter of fact, several of the more successful 70's sitcoms are playing on television today. Here is a short list of 70's sitcoms that might be playing on your TV as you read this: Welcome Back Kotter, Happy Days, M*A*S*H, Laverne & Shirley and Good Times to name just a few funny TV shows from that era.

Happy Days, which brought back the 50’s generation into everybody’s living room was a major success with one of televisions most memorable characters (Fonzi). Every week this 70’s sitcom brought us into the Cunningham household where many of us got to grow up with the naïve Richie Cunningham as well as characters like Arthur Mozzarella (The Fonz), Ralph Malph, Potsie Webber and Lavern & Shirley before they got their own popular TV sitcom.

How Have TV Sitcoms Changed Society?

New If TV sitcoms had never been created, I wonder where we would all be today? What, with all of today's economic and social issues, life is taken much too seriously. In fact, taking some time out to see the lighter side of life would do all of us some good. Television sitcoms provide us with just that. The sarcasm and humor that many of us often see when we watch many of today’s TV sitcoms help in bringing us a much need break from the seriousness that the vast majority of us face in our daily humdrum lives. Had some comedic genius not come up with the idea of TV sitcoms, our lives would probably be far more bleak than they are today. God! do I sound morbid. I think I need to watch a TV sitcom right now!

Over the years, there have been many kinds of TV sitcoms for us to watch. Some dealt with relationship issues, others dealt with the war in Vietnam, and others dared to tackle controversial issues like racism, drugs and alcohol, under age sex, same sex relationships and political issues. All of these issues and a great deal more have been humorously addressed by the many talented writers of TV sitcoms in various ways over the years, and with tremendous success.
